Five former Memphis police officers on Thursday were taken into custody and charged with murder in connection to the death of Tyre Nichols, according to jail records.

The former officers have been identified as Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office is planning a press conference at 2 p.m. local time, ABC 7 reported.

The body camera footage is expected to be released soon.

Nichols, a black man, died Jan. 10, reportedly after a traffic stop three days earlier by officers from department.
